Diane Monroe
Versatile violinist Diane Monroe is a native of Philadelphia, and has
performed with renowned artists from cellist Yo-Yo Ma to drummer Max Roach. As a soloist she has been heard in concerts halls such as Carnegie Hall, The
Kennedy Center, and Switzerland's Tonhalle. Diane was the first violinist
of the celebrated Uptown String Quartet from 1986-1998, and her original
compositions and improvisations with them can be heard on the
Philips/Polygram and Mesa/Bluemoon labels. Diane is graduate of the Curtis
Institute of Music, and the Philadelphia Musical Academy. Presently she
tours with the String Trio of New York, and, when she is home in
Philadelphia performs the Amazing Violin and its Global Repertoire program
for advanced string players, and high school concerts and workshops.
Diane is accompanied by pianist Kathleen Harrod.
