Popular Music, Its Sounds and Origins
with the James D Trio and vocalist Janellen Framer

James D on keyboard combines his trio (keyboard, violin and the big bass) with a singer, to make the crossover from Bach to Baccarach to BeBop.

Pop music and its roots in classical and jazz are explored in this crossover program with violin, keyboard, and bass. Opening with an attention getting Rap song, the audience is taken on a journey through a wide range of popular music (Swing, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country, Motown, Pop) and its origins. They learn what each music form is, how it evolved, and where it fits into today’s music scene. All performances are lively and creative. Youngsters gain new perspectives on today’s popular music from Philly’s finest musicians.
