Hot Air: The Story of Brass Instruments
from the Chestnut Brass Company

This upbeat program introduces the instruments of the brass family, performing virtuosic music of many styles. Students see and hear each instrument played individually, and are thrilled by the impact of the full quintet. They see a demonstration of primitive and home-made instruments which answers the questions "What is a brass instrument?" and "How does it work?" Through audience participation, this program teaches students to recognize the basic elements of music (high & low sounds, loud & soft sounds, fast & slow speeds). At the conclusion, our goal is to generate genuine excitement about brass music.
