Journey Into Middle Eastern Music with the Spice Route Ensemble

The "Journey Into Middle Eastern Music" takes youngsters on a journey through the ancient spice routes. Percussions, voice, oud, and bass introduce them to the sounds and magic of the Middle East from Morocco to Bangladesh. Lead, Bruce Kaminsky brings the program home by relating the sounds of the East to the sounds he hears when walking down his street in Philadelphia. It is a trip they will remember warmly forever afterwards!

"Journey Into Middle Eastern Music" debuted just before our country’s tragedy on September 11th. Since then, the program has taken on a much greater meaning as it introduces students to cultures that may be foreign to them and helps to break down cultural barriers that may have been caused by heightened political tensions throughout our world.
